my strange dream - friday 5 may 2006

I had another dream about Bruce Cockburn... Yes that Bruce Cockburn - the Canadian singer/songwriter.

The dream begins with me and some other people (none I recognised) making snowballs with multicoloured snow. Except the multi-coloured snow was going a mucky colour just as play-doh or plasticine does when you mush several colours up together enough.

Scene changes: I'm in a car driving up the road when I see Bruce up ahead, walking. I have a snowball with me in the car so as I draw a long side Bruce I lob my snowball over the roof of the car at Bruce. I don't know if I hit him. If I do it's in his legs or perhaps it lands at his feet and he jumps out of fright or surprise. I start to feel bad for doing this to Bruce.

Scene Changes: I'm in a village hall. Bruce is there too. The villagers are having a meeting. village stuff. I'm looking for an opportunity to address the meeting and it comes at the end of the meeting just after the chairman/woman has made some general announcements. I say "Excuse Me!" and make my way forward and stand next to the chairperson. Then I make a very public apology to Bruce for throwing the snowball at him. Everything is now good between us.

Scene Changes: The villagers, Bruce and I are creating sets to decorate the village hall for some kind of Christmas pageant or party for the village children. It is evening and quite dark outside. The hall is very well lit. Bruce is making Native American totem poles in bright vibrate colours. I'm thinking how great it will be when morning comes and I can bring my grandson in to see the finished decorations.

End of dream.

I don't recall much about the other Bruce Cockburn dream(s). I recall that in one I was travellling in the South Island (New Zealand) with my daughter when we came upon a car accident. A car had been "rear-ended". That car was being driven by - yes you guessed it - Bruce Cockburn.

I have heard it said that the people in your dreams all represent some aspect of yourself.

I wonder what aspect of myself is being represented by Bruce.

And heck! I've never thrown a snowball at any aspect of myself before.....
